What are the TCMC Tri-Counties This page last updated January 14th, 2005 Tri-County Mustang Club is located along the coastline of the Pacific Ocean in what's popularly known as Southern California (So Cal). We're part of California's Central or Gold Coast From North to South 'our' most active membership base counties include: San Luis Obispo (SLO), Santa Barbara (S.B.), Ventura (Vta.), and since 2003 ~ Los Angeles County (L.A.) TCMC has no residency or ownership restrictions, but 1 requirement: Mustang ENTHUSIASM Los Angeles County recognition Late 2002: TCMC membership recognized by majority vote Los Angeles County as an included County (see new math) for Tri-County Mustang Club publicity purposes. San Luis Obispo County remains an active membership base and one of many TCMC cruise destination areas. Check out the So Cal population numbers by county below ~ Then think possibilities of how many of those people might be mustang enthusiasts that would want to be a part of a still growing club and popular hobby interest. The inescapable logic, that L.A. population is noticebly larger and active in TCMC.
This publicity change reflects real world demographics not the enthusiasm level of San Luis Obispo residents or the value of TCMC's traditional expression "Ownership is not a requirement, Enthusiasm is!" TCMC welcomes Mustang lovers from everywhere, it's your enthusiasm that counts, not your zip code. Below are the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau figures for Southern California counties. List order is by proximity to most TCMC *memberships.
Total California est. population 2000 census 34.5 million. So Cal 21 million. California County Map: http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/maps/california_map.html TCMC membership is open to all Mustang Enthusiasts everywhere : TCMC is the largest of only 3 non-profit Mustang Clubs in Southern California. The Mustang SVO Central Coast Chapter "Boosted Ponies" and Saddleback Mustang Club are also non-profit Mustang clubs. So Cal Geographic Note: Both Kern County and San Bernardino County fall within the same radius as SLO. Long before TCMC's 1984 CA state charter as a non-profit was granted, residents of California's Central Coast commonly understood the Tri-County reference as SLO, S.B. & Vta. see TCMC History for more interesting details on the clubs origin.

In TCMC's new math (3 + X) = Tri-County where X is any county. At the start of our 20th year as the Tri-County Mustang Club, we had new considerations. What do you do when there is now really 4 Counties and no residency requirements? A name change was suggested from several places, but overwhelmingly opposed as impractical, and while not illogical, a poor choice given difficulties of re-establishing the TCMC name recogition. One Conclusion remained. The new math. |
